In summer 2021, the Toivola House will be the Toivola Art & Culture House
The Toivola house, designed by blacksmith Herman Toivola, who was still a tenant at the property at the time, was completed in 1890. The building has met the changing needs of the Toivola Old Courtyard throughout its history. In summer 2021, it will become the Toivola Art & Culture House, free of charge to visitors.

An art exhibition at the Toivola House will bring the art of Kari and Samuli Alonen and Katja Rauhamäki to the centre of Jyväskylä. The exhibition will feature various forms of art. Design Alonen’s own space is located in Pykälistö, while Katja Rauhamäki has her studio in Kuhankoski, Laukaa. Samuli Alonen describes the exhibition in Toivola as a “taster”.
The Toivola exhibition also includes pieces of Toivola’s history in different forms, as well as dinnerware sets.
