Kuopio has kalakukko, Tampere has mustamakkara—and now Jyväskylä has gelato! Here, you can create and enjoy your own gelato experience.
The selection includes artisan gelatos and sorbets, with flavors such as vanilla, strawberry, fruit–salty licorice, white chocolate–raspberry, toasted butter–white chocolate, mint truffle, and lemon–licorice. Flavors vary seasonally. The range also includes gluten-free, vegan, and lactose-free options.
At Art Gelato Shop & Café, gelato is available to enjoy on-site or to take home. The selection includes gelato portions, cups, gelato cookies, tasting boxes, and warm gelato toast. For takeaway, gelato and sorbet are also sold in 2.35 L containers. In addition, the café offers both savory and sweet pastries, as well as coffee, tea, and refreshments. All treats served at the Vicarage are lovingly planned, baked, and prepared in-house.
Among the gelatos, white chocolate–raspberry won 3rd place in the “Gelato of the Year” category at the 2025 Ice Cream & Chocolate Carnival. Lemon–licorice took 2nd place in the “Vegan Ice Cream of the Year” category. Toasted butter–white chocolate was also awarded in 2024.
Behind the gelato are experienced culinary professionals Lasse Koistinen and Jari Kovanen. Koistinen has worked as a chef and head chef in several restaurants, including Place Kämp and Hullu Poro in Levi. Kovanen, in turn, has worked in top restaurants in Finland as well as in Stockholm and Central Europe. Art Gelato is produced by Art Food Heaven Ltd., whose gelato factory is located in Vuontee, Laukaa, where the artisan gelato has been made since 2015.
In addition to the Art Gelato Shop & Café, Art Gelato products are currently sold in restaurants and, during the summer season, at Toivola Old Courtyard.
